On 4 December 2025, the third online discussion forum of the LIFE ShepForBio project was held, entitled “Shepherding Futures: Training, Innovation, and Rural Revival”.
This time, five experts contributed to fuel the dialogue: Frosina Pandurska-Drаmikјanin and Stephanie Gentle illustrated a successful experimentation connecting livestock keeping with tourism in Diber (Albania); Tamara Mitrofanenko gave an overview of the latest efforts of the project “Linking biodiversity, pastoralism and cultural heritage via ESD in the Carpathian Region” to advocate for the recognition of shepherds and transhumant practitioners in the Carpathians; Maria Diaz de Quijano, from the School of Shepherds of Catalonia, illustrated the new “EcoPastos” training module, tested as part of the Erasmus+ partnership, to help aspiring shepherds developing eco-pastoral diagnostics and improve the sustainable management of mountain pastures. Marco André de Almeida Fernandes brought the experience of the LifeMaronesa project and the shepherd school of Alvão, as an example of how pastoralism can regenerate mountain territories in critical conditions.
