Next Wednesday, June 19, in Castelnuovo Garfagnana (LU), LIFE ShepForBio will be the guest speaker at one of the territorial forums organized by the APE TOE project “Restoring Grasslands and Forests of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.”
The project, promoted by Legambiente and funded under the Endangered Landscapes & Seascapes program, managed by the Cambridge Conservation Initiative in collaboration with the Arcadia Foundation, aims to define a Conservation Plan for the Northern Apennines in order to “initiate a large-scale restoration of the Apennine agro-pastoral landscape, capable of maintaining high levels of biodiversity, restoring habitats and ecological processes, promoting climate resilience, attractiveness for sustainable tourism and the well-being of local communities.”
The collaboration is part of the activities under the Action “Defining a regional strategy for the conservation of the project’s target habitats through activities to support mountain pastoralism” of LIFE ShepForBio, which sees precisely a focus on the territories of Lunigiana and Garfagnana.
Last week, technicians from the two projects, carried out a joint inspection in parts of Lunigiana viewing some of the areas to be included in the pasture restoration program.
