The data collected as part of the ornithological monitoring confirm the importance of pastures and grasslands not only for plant species, butterflies and orthoptera, but also for birds, especially nesting species. A total of 61 species were recorded, of which six are listed in Annex I of the Birds Directive and as such considered to be of European importance. These include three species of diurnal birds of prey, the honey buzzard, short-toed eagle owl and peregrine falcon, the woodlark, the red-backed shrike and the tawny pipit. Four other species also fall within one of the threat categories of the National Red List: wryneck, skylark, stonechat and greenfinch. The surveys will be repeated at the end of the project to assess the effect of the interventions carried out.
